Free day with host family

Today, when we woke up, our host mum Amanda made us a traditional Canadian breakfast of pancakes and hash browns. It was delicious, and we enjoyed it very much.


After breakfast, Amanda took us to Costco. We were amazed by the sheer size of the store, which is much larger than the supermarkets we have back in Hong Kong. We bought various groceries, hoodies, fruits, and jackets. It was a good idea for all of us to buy the same white hoodies - it makes us feel like a cohesive team.



 


 



Next, Amanda brought us to Cabela's, a store where Canadians buy fishing and hunting equipment. This was a novel experience for us, as there is no such shop in Hong Kong. We played the shooting game together, which was challenging but fun. We also got to see real guns and some taxidermy animals, which we found quite interesting.






In the afternoon, we went to the Genesis recreation center with our host family's daughter, Ana. We enjoyed playing volleyball and table tennis together, and also went for a refreshing swim. There were a lot of cute and muscular guys at the facility, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We had a wonderful time with Ana and Amanda, and we are very grateful for their hospitality.

Day 1 11/7/2024 Hong Kong→ Vancouver→ Calgary Here we goooooo! Calgary, we are coming!!! Today was the first day of the trip. We were so excited. After saying goodbye to our parents, we were heading towards our flight to Vancouver. We were all looking forward to the Immersion Programme.   While waiting on board, we used our dolls to take photos with the boarding pass, and it looks adorable!     We met Mr. and Mrs. McDonald and our host family at the airport. Both of us rushed into Mr. and Mrs. McDonald as we had missed them a lot! After that, we met our host dad and host mom. They were so nice, fun, and friendly. We always laughed because of their jokes. They told us that this was the first time for them being a host family, so they were excited. On the way back home, Mr. and Mrs. Clarke brought us to buy a muffin and a drink from Tim Hortons. Day 15 - School day + Awards Ceremony

Day 15 25/7/2024 School day +  Awards Ceremony Today is the final day of our journey, and although there is much reluctance to see it end, we have still prepared well for today. This morning, we arrived at the church for class. Mr. Jeff asked us some questions, and then we made a video project to show him. After that, we all played card games together. Later, Mr. Jeff took us to a cafe and bought us coffee. Around 2 pm, our awards ceremony began. First, everyone watched the videos we had made. Then, Mr. McDonald and Mr. Jeff presented certificates to all of us.  After the ceremony, we had a big feast. During this time, we also took group photos with one another.       At 5:30 pm, we returned to our host families. The dinner prepared by Iris tonight was very abundant, featuring beef steak. Day 11 - Free day with host family + Canadian Football League

Day 11 21/7/2024 Free day with host family + Canadian Football League This morning, after breakfast, I saw Ms. Clarke helping Mr. Clarke get a haircut, as she said that getting a haircut in Canada was very expensive. It took $40 CAD for a simple haircut. After that, we packed up our dinner with our host mom as we went shopping before the Canadian Football League game. Before we left our house, the dog Nashe from the neighbors came to our house and slept on Daisy's leg. He was adorable!  We went to a shop in Airdrie that contained lots of Jellycat toys. Since they were lovely and I couldn't resist the temptation, I bought one of them😋. Then, we went to the McMahon Stadium to watch the match between the BC Lions and the Stampeders. The game was amazing, and we enjoyed it a lot. We were shocked when the Stampeders scored because there were fireworks, and a horse would run around the field.
