School day + Skyline Downhill Karting Olympic Village




Today was the 14th day of the trip. It was the second-to-last day. The time flew by so fast that we couldn't bear to part with Calgary.


In the morning, we still had the regular classes. At 10:00 am, Mr. Jeff taught us how to use ukuleles to play songs such as "You Are My Sunshine" and "Memories." This was the first time we had played ukuleles. It was quite interesting and not very difficult for us.

 


In the afternoon, we went to Skyline Downhill Karting Olympic Village for go-karting. We first took cable cars which hung our legs outside to reach the mountaintop. After arriving, we got into the go-kart cars. It was easy to control: pulling to the middle to move forward, and pulling back to stop. The slope was not very steep, but the go-karts' speed was incredibly fast. It was so thrilling. However, the shaking was a bit too much, which made our hands painful. Despite this, we still played it 3 times.



         

 


After leaving the Olympic Village, we went to Costco with our host mom. We thought it seemed like a warehouse. Everything inside was in a huge size. We bought some snacks there, and we were all very satisfied with the shopping experience.

Day 1 11/7/2024 Hong Kong→ Vancouver→ Calgary Here we goooooo! Calgary, we are coming!!! Today was the first day of the trip. We were so excited. After saying goodbye to our parents, we were heading towards our flight to Vancouver. We were all looking forward to the Immersion Programme.   While waiting on board, we used our dolls to take photos with the boarding pass, and it looks adorable!     We met Mr. and Mrs. McDonald and our host family at the airport. Both of us rushed into Mr. and Mrs. McDonald as we had missed them a lot! After that, we met our host dad and host mom. They were so nice, fun, and friendly. We always laughed because of their jokes. They told us that this was the first time for them being a host family, so they were excited. On the way back home, Mr. and Mrs. Clarke brought us to buy a muffin and a drink from Tim Hortons. Day 2 - School day + University of Calgary Tour

Day 2 12/7/2024 School day + University of Calgary Tour Today was the second day of the trip. We are so tired as the plane delayed for three hours, and we arrived in Calgary almost at midnight. But we still had class today in the morning.        For the first day at school, we met Mr. McDonald and Mr. Jeff, who are the teachers. A book called "Bridge to Terabithia" was distributed to us for reading. Mr. McDonald taught us some reading techniques through reading the book together. He was a funny and friendly teacher. After that, we had our lunch and went to visit the University of Calgary, which is bigger than the University of Hong Kong. There are a lot of facilities, such as the library with six floors and the Olympic Oval. Although we were weary from walking around, we appreciated the advanced technology environment and the warm introduction from the tour guide. Day 5 - School day + Heritage Park Historical Village

Day 5  15/7/2024  School day + Heritage Park Historical Village Today was the fifth day of the trip. After a meaningful weekend, we kicked off a busy week by returning to class. As usual, we learned new vocabulary this morning, followed by a writing and reading lesson. For the writing session, we used the prompt "you will never believe what happened..." to create collaborative stories, passing the stories to the next student one by one. We managed to come up with a few wonderfully crazy and amazing stories. During the reading section, we all did a great job reading the stories aloud, as Jeff had praised.     After a lunch break, we set out to explore Heritage Park. We took the Tractor Wagon Ride from Heritage Plaza to the Ranch & Farm Life bus stop, where we had a 15-minute break to learn about the history of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
