Day 15 - School day + Awards Ceremony

Image
Day 15 25/7/2024 School day +  Awards Ceremony Today is the final day of our journey, and although there is much reluctance to see it end, we have still prepared well for today. This morning, we arrived at the church for class. Mr. Jeff asked us some questions, and then we made a video project to show him. After that, we all played card games together. Later, Mr. Jeff took us to a cafe and bought us coffee. Around 2 pm, our awards ceremony began. First, everyone watched the videos we had made. Then, Mr. McDonald and Mr. Jeff presented certificates to all of us.  After the ceremony, we had a big feast. During this time, we also took group photos with one another.       At 5:30 pm, we returned to our host families. The dinner prepared by Iris tonight was very abundant, featuring beef steak. Unfortunately, our host family could not eat it. When we finished dinner, we all started packing our luggage to prepare for our return to Hong Kong tomorrow. Thank you to Mr. J...

Day 14 - School day + Skyline Downhill Karting Olympic Village

Day 14 24/7/2024 School day + Skyline Downhill Karting Olympic Village Today was the 14th day of the trip. It was the second-to-last day. The time flew by so fast that we couldn't bear to part with Calgary. In the morning, we still had the regular classes. At 10:00 am, Mr. Jeff taught us how to use ukuleles to play songs such as "You Are My Sunshine" and "Memories." This was the first time we had played ukuleles. It was quite interesting and not very difficult for us.   In the afternoon, we went to Skyline Downhill Karting Olympic Village for go-karting. We first took cable cars which hung our legs outside to reach the mountaintop. After arriving, we got into the go-kart cars. It was easy to control: pulling to the middle to move forward, and pulling back to stop. The slope was not very steep, but the go-karts' speed was incredibly fast. It was so thrilling. However, the shaking was a bit too much, which made our hands painful. Despite this, we still played ...

Day 13 - School day + Monster Mini-golf

Day 13 23/7/2024 School day + Monster Mini-golf Today is Day 13. We've done so many amazing things today, and this might be our most unforgettable day after we return to Hong Kong. In the morning, we learned some basic chords of the ukulele from Mr. Jeff. That was our first time playing the ukulele, and we were excited. We finished a few chapters of our book, "Holes," and learned a few new vocabularies.      In the afternoon, we went to the mini monster golf. We were the first team to finish all 18 holes. We always cheered when somebody in our group's ball entered the hole. It was really fun for us. Although we struggled with some of the holes since it was our first time playing mini golf, we still enjoyed it very much.     After finishing the mini golf, we went to play the arcade games, basketball machines, boxing machine, and gun games. We won so many prizes from the arcade, and we were so proud that we could bring so many toys back home.     By Haz...

Day 12 - School day + Village Square Leisure Centre Water Park

Image
Day 12 22/7/2024 School day + Village  Square Leisure Centre Water Park We went to class in the morning as usual. In the lesson, we shared our feelings on the topic 'what is your impression of Calgary'. Through that, we discovered that we had already experienced a lot in Calgary, and our trip is coming to an end. We feel sad about that, as we don't want to leave this beautiful city. We think we will and must cherish the last few days of this journey! In the afternoon, we went to the Village Square Leisure Centre Water Park! We were very excited to go to the water park, but when we finally got there, it was actually unexpected because the water park is not a really huge place, and one of the two long slides was closed today. But happily, we found a ball and spun around and played together. After a while, other kids in the pool joined us, and we played like we were old friends before, which was very cool and interesting! For dinner, we had a rich meal at night. We had dumplin...

Day 11 - Free day with host family + Canadian Football League

Day 11 21/7/2024 Free day with host family + Canadian Football League This morning, after breakfast, I saw Ms. Clarke helping Mr. Clarke get a haircut, as she said that getting a haircut in Canada was very expensive. It took $40 CAD for a simple haircut. After that, we packed up our dinner with our host mom as we went shopping before the Canadian Football League game. Before we left our house, the dog Nashe from the neighbors came to our house and slept on Daisy's leg. He was adorable!  We went to a shop in Airdrie that contained lots of Jellycat toys. Since they were lovely and I couldn't resist the temptation, I bought one of them😋. Then, we went to the McMahon Stadium to watch the match between the BC Lions and the Stampeders. The game was amazing, and we enjoyed it a lot. We were shocked when the Stampeders scored because there were fireworks, and a horse would run around the field. I had never seen that before, so I loved it so much!😚   That’s the end of our day~ By Ann...
